#1 Carowinds

You can treat your whole family in a day out here at Carowinds and enjoy the 14 different types of thrilling roller coasters, such as Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, Planet Snoopy, Rip Roarin' Rapids, Skytower, Dinosaurs Alive featuring 30 life-size moving animatronic monsters, and more! #2 Discovery Place

Charlotte's Discover Place is a kid-friendly science museum that is a great place to spend a day with the entire family. You can enjoy interactive, hands-on exhibits that feature a wide variety of scientific concepts and educational films in IMAX Dome theater. They also serve more than 800,000 people a year with high-impact and interactive science education to students and families in the region. A visit here would be a fun and delightful experience for the entire family. And not to mention, there are also lots of great restaurants around the premises too.

#3 Freedom Park

This wide-open, child-friendly park can be a great place to sit and have a picnic with the family. At 98 acres, Freedom park boasts its seven-acre lake and a number of ballfields used by weekend warriors and recreation leagues on a regular basis. Freedom Park also contains playground equipment, paved trails, fenced steam engines, and safety bars added over the tender. You and your loved ones can also enjoy free musical performances and films in the park Pavillion throughout the summer.

#4 Mint Museum

The 145,000 square feet building of the mint museum is an architectural gem. Inside, it is filled with wonderful collections of European, American, and contemporary art. This museum is also known for its collection of amazing craft and design, all together with the museum's progressive exhibitions of fascinating wood and glass artwork that the whole family will enjoy. Visitors can choose from their different vacation-themed topics, such as Summer Creativity Kits, Surf Up, Camping Under the Stars, Crabby Beach, and Nature Trail Adventure to expand the artistic horizons of your children.

#5 ImaginOn

ImaginOn is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the area, primarily because of its joint Children's Theatre of Charlotte and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library that focuses on storytelling. This includes costumes and a stage for the little ones, impromptu performances, storytelling, and Studio I, where families and friends can create their own videos. This 102,000 square-foot facility also houses an extensive library collection, ideal for teens and children of ages 11 and below.
